It looks like a lot of Aussie drivers are risking voided car insurance claims by driving on un-roadworthy tyres. A survey of more than 1,500 motorists by Canstar Blue has found that 42% of drivers are unaware of legal tyre safety standards, including legal tyre tread depth; while about a quarter (24%) don’t know how to check if their tyres are too worn. As well as being potentially dangerous, that lack of knowledge could prove costly in the event of an accident and subsequent insurance claim. Tyre Pressure is one of the most important parts of car maintenance. Correct tyre pressure will increase fuel economy, the life of your tyre and reduce wear and tear on you car. Tyre pressure should be checked every month and set to the manufacturers standards as found on the tyre placard. These can normally be found on the inside of the drivers side door on inside the glove box lid.
